We recognise that Broad-Based Black Economic Empowerment (BBBEE) is the only meaningful way to broaden the country’s economic base, and to accelerate growth, job creation and work towards poverty eradication.
3DDraughting’s policy regarding Broad-Based Black Economic Empowerment has been to focus on the seven elements set out in the BBBEE Code of Good Practice. The company has performed well in elements such as ownership, management and control, the current focus is on skills development, employment equity and preferential procurement.
The purpose of this strategy is to equip employees with the functional skills development and the correct proficiency sets to be competent and effective in their positions. At the same time, empowerment through clear accountabilities has become part of contracting with employees. This has contributed significantly to the success of the business improvement drive achieved by 3DDraughting.
Focus has also been placed on retaining these skills with an ongoing career path process being started. In an industry where technically skilled and qualified Previously Disadvantaged Individuals (PDI) are especially scarce, the company is proud that more than 50 % of our staff and 50 % of our senior managers are classified as PDI’s.
The next phase of development of these employees will make them co-responsible for the training and mentoring of the future initiates into the company. This process will be initiated and continue throughout the forthcoming period.
