3DDraughting were responsible for the initial Eskom SmartPlant Piping and Instrumentation Diagrams (P&IDs) configuration which included the full documentation and customisation required for the software rollout. The documentation included standards, procedures and tips and tricks manuals to assist the organisation to become self sufficient over the longer term.

3DDraughting were further contracted to create intelligent P&IDs using the original vendor drawings. The vendor drawings contained components in different systems (typical packaged plants) and the same item could appear multiple times and in many different drawings.

The P&IDs were evaluate to determine the best layout (focusing on the process flow) and to ensure that each component is only shown once.

The Scope of the project included the following plant areas:

• 290 Boiler P&IDs
• 87 Turbine P&IDs

The project was also configured using a client/host environment in SmartPlant.
